SC3: QA/QC and sampling: practical foundations for good decision-making in resource estimations, metallurgical accounting, exploration

The course will address to concepts of QA and QC and how to create programmes with solid data quality management. A statistical background of the tools will be explained and several basic exercises are provided.

Concepts of bias, accuracy, precision and representivity are explained and further elaborated on through case studies and examples.
The sampling theory is briefly consulted and broken down in its various components and ways to deal with errors.
If time permits, the laboratory process (sample preparation, analytical and QC) will be addressed, as well as the basic concepts of variography and in particular to see the effects of several data management issues on the quality of geostatistical evaluations.
