This workshop will focus on the geology, geochemistry, genesis, and exploration criteria for orogenic gold deposits. The morning sessions will provide a comprehensive overview of the general features of this class of ore deposit, as well as a global overview showing important similarities and differences between many of the World’s major gold provinces formed between ca. 600 and 5 Ma. The afternoon sessions will include a thorough description of the South Island (New Zealand) deposits and potential, as well as an overview of the famous Klondike goldfields (Yukon, Canada) and what hints detailed studies in that region can tell us about South Island gold. The workshop will be presented by international experts with a combined >100 years of study of Phanerozoic orogenic gold.
